東海道五十三次の四十番目の宿である「鳴海宿」についてまとめた書。
鳴海宿の成立、本陣、問屋場、旅籠屋、町のあらまし、東海道近くの史蹟名勝、鳴海の唄などについて詳述する。

南図書館の蔵書というのが「ん?」という気もしますが(^^;
